Q- I don’t know how to surf. What do I do?
A- Don’t Worry! We have surfing lessons included for people who do not have experience!
Q- I have experience surfing. Do I need to take the classes?
A- NO!! Just take the board provided and ride the waves! Plus, if you want to learn new tricks, the trainers can give you a tip or two!!
Q- I don’t know how to SCUBA Dive? What do I do?
A- To SCUBA dive you have to be a certified SCUBA Diver. However, we do provide the classes! While other fellow adventurers go and SCUBA, you will learn the basics of SCUBA diving! All the services are provided by a ANDI and PADI Certified SCUBA Diving Facility.
Q- Can you pick me up at the airport?
A- Yes! Adventurers are picked-up at the Rafael Hernandez International Airport, which is only 20 minutes away from Porta del Sol Apartments. Please contact us to make the necessary arrangements.
Adventurers coming from Luis Munoz Marin International in San Juan can contact us, and for an additional fee* we can make arrangements.

Q- What if I arrive in Puerto Rico several days before the Adventure Expedition starts?
A- We have two pick-up locations in Western Puerto Rico. They are Aguadilla Mall (Kmart) at 5:00PM and Plaza Isabela (Super Coop Supermarket) at 6:00PM.
Q- What days are included in the Expedition?
A- The Expedition is from Monday morning to Friday evening. It is five full days! The adventure actually starts on Sunday when you are picked up and ends on Saturday.
Q- What is included in the price?
A- The Adventures, Lodging, Transportation, Food, Equipment, and all the basics are included. Transportation to and from the pick-up locations in Western Puerto Rico, and from the Rafael Hernandez International Airport is also included.
Q- What is not included in the price?
A- Personal items, alcoholic beverages, food expenses outside of the ones provided by Porta del Sol Adventures, extra transportation requested (by adventurers), are not included. Transportation from the San Juan Metro area and any area of Puerto Rico, except the two pick-up locations and Rafael Hernandez International Airport, is not included.
As with any other apartment rental, certain items need to be brought by the adventurers, such as, soap, shampoos, toothpaste, towels. As an apartment facility, no extra services are provided (maid, food service, etc). It is your private apartment for one week, so please visit the Essentials page for further details!!
Q- What happens if the weather does not cooperate?
A- We cannot control nature, but we have extensive knowledge of the island and the adventures that can be performed in other areas, if the weather permits. We reserve the right to change the location, order of the stages, and the cancellation of adventures at any time. Safety is number one for us and the trained specialists of each adventure. We determine if an adventure can be done safely and effectively. The caving and/or canyoning adventures are activities in which the weather plays a major role and can be removed from the schedule at any time.
Q- Do I need to be in good Physical condition to be part of Porta del Sol Adventures?
A- Yes! But Porta del Sol Adventures helps. Visit the “get ready” section. Remember to consult your physician prior to starting this or any other exercise program. Consult your physician prior to your Porta del Sol Adventure.
Q- Can my child participate in the adventure?
A- Minimum age of participants is 15. Please refer to our requirements section.
Q- Do I need a passport to Puerto Rico?
A- No!! American Citizens are not required to have a passport, just your drivers license or photo ID (like in any other state). International travelers, however, do need a passport to and from the island.
Q- What airlines fly to Puerto Rico?
A- All major airlines fly to Puerto Rico. Only Jetblue, Continental, and Spirit Air fly to Rafael Hernandez International Airport, which is the preferred airport, since it is only 20 minutes away and transportation is free! Q- What information do I need to provide?
A- Please fill out the forms provided in the Forms section and you are on your way! Please provide Porta del Sol Adventures with necessary information that may be critical during adventures. Your adventure is going to be more enjoyable and fulfilling, if we have the right information.
Q- What happens, if I don’t know how to swim?
A- Some of the activities are water related. The surfing adventure is the only one that does not provide a life vest. Even then, the adventure is tailored to your expertise level, and a surfing trainer guides you through every step in shallow waters. Safety is #1!!
