GUAJATACA! Explore one of the most beautiful locations in Porta del Sol! The name was given to the area by the Taino Indians. Guajataca is located in the heart of Karst Country. Beaches, Rivers, Lake, Forest and Caves are all in this region!!!

This stage of your expedition starts at the majestic 2400 acre Guajataca Forest. Hike through 27 miles of trails in the forest and look for the red-tailed hawks (guaraguao), Puerto Rican woodpeckers, and Puerto Rican Boa (endangered species)! As you walk deeper into the forest explore the caves that are in the system, including the impressive Cueva del Viento! Enter the cave, turn on the flashlight and explore up close stalagmites, stalactites, strange rock formations, and the animal life that call this beautiful place home!

After your journey in the Guajataca Forest, a new adventure awaits in the beautiful Guajataca Lake. This 4 mile long lake is located in the heart of Guajataca! Canoe, in the afternoon, through the calm waters and enjoy one of the most beautiful sceneries of Puerto Rico!
The day ends with a 30 minute drive and a beautiful sunset at Guajataca Beach! This beach is recognized as having one of the most amazing views of the island! Enter el Tunel del Guajataca, and walk next to the Atlantic Ocean, as it batters the coast and the huge rocks, with its huge waves!

This is an excellent way to prepare you for the next stage of your expedition!!!
